Returning from the mountain QTH to the city on Thursday, I forgot to
bring either K2 or K1. So Saturday morning, this was my excuse to warm
up the plane and do an emergency rig retrieval flight. Got home around
3:00 PM with only a few hours to play before leaving for a company
party. When I got home at midnight, there was no one left on the bands.
Nonetheless, it was great to hear a lot of Elecrafters while I was
on the air and a special pleasure to work both Wayne and Eric. Thanks
for all the fun, guys!
Managed 101 Q's, all CW, one on battery power, including 5 field testers.
The K2/100 worked beautifully, as it has for thousands of QSOs in
more mainstream contests in the past. It is my "rig of choice" for
contesting. See the review on the K2 for Contesting in the upcoming issue
of NCJ. If you are a budding contester and don't subscribe, think about it!
It is an ARRL speciality publication available on ham radio store counters
and, better, by subscription.
