Do folks run the software in the midst of the event? I am

keyboard sending and logging.
Yes, especially when the logging software will check dupes,
send CW, etc. Even if it doesn't do these things, it is
still,
once you get used to it, the only way to go ..... IMHO!
I notice the EQP software requires
that signal reports be
entered for every QSO. Is this typical? Maybe this is
to
encourage genuine reports instead of automatic 599 for QRO
and 559 for QRP.
No, it's not typical with most of the contest logging software -
most
of them use the {quot}canned report{quot} - 599 or 5NN for the major
contests
and I've noticed in a lot of QRP contests & sprints there are
many
559s being sent by stations who are sitting on one freq CQing, but
with some of the contest loggers you can make it send the signal
report that you want sent (NA Logging program does this - I'm not
sure about the others).

I'm trying to make the transition
from paper to computer
logging, and the Elecraft even seems like a good one to
start with...but I'll probably still be using my paper while
in QSO, at least for cw (sent by bug, not keyboard).
Comments appreciated.
