The keying circuit is a little different in the K1.  You are pulling the
dash and dot lines to ground through dropping resistors.  So that the
Microprocessor see a different voltage at its input for a dot and a dash.
It only has one input and it generates a dot if it sees one voltage and a
dash if it see another voltage.  I think you probably need to place the K1
INP menu setting to hand key and then try it.  Select INP in the menu and
change it to "Hnd" and try it.
