Still no CW sidetone after the mods from a to b and adding the KPA100. I
have replaced Q5 on the control board and yes, I have U8-4 selected for the
sidetone. I still haven't figured out why I have lost my sidetone, so no CW
until I figure out what is wrong. I live and travel in a 37 foot motorhome,
so I don't have room for a scope. Any suggestions are welcome.
Also, went 90 miles to the nearest Radio Shack yesterday to get a ferrite
core for my EIA 232 interface, but they said they don't have them in the
catalog anymore. Guess I'll do some on line shopping!
I have some old QSL cards, circa 1920-24 on Ebay and bids have now exceeded
the cost of a KAT100, so when my auction ends, off goes the order for it.
Just ordered the noise blanker for my K2. I'm quickly running out of things
to build! I guess I'll have to add the 30 watt pa to my Ten Tec two meter
rig.
BTW, my station in the RV is totally self built. I do cheat and use a
Kenwood TM D700A at the drivers seat for APRS. The station at my desk is a
K2 and at Ten Tec 1220. I am currently using an R5 that is ground mounted
for an antenna, (since we are staying near Bryce Canyon National Park all
summer ) but am thinking of moving to an open wire fed dipole on a
fiberglass pole for more bands. I also have a High Sierra screwdriver on my
Chevy Tracker and an Icom 706 MKII inside. I find the K2 to be a much
better rig.
