John,

I mounted mine on a triangular piece of 1/8" thick plexiglass that extends
under my sending hand.  I just hold it in place with the heel of my hand
while sending.  This works find on a softer surface.  For hard surfaces
where the base slips too easily, I put a piece of that rubber shelp lining
stuff unders (the stuff without adhesive).  This sticks it in place very
well while allowing for easy position adjustments.

This base is very light eight and the hinge makes the arrangement very
portable.
