I'm sorry you are having problems with your KDSP2.

NOT INSTALLED

The not installed message occurs if the MCU in the K2 has failed once in
communicating with the KDSP2 since the last time the K2 was switched on. It
is an auxbus timing-related issue.

There is an improved version of firmware for the KDSP2 that is being tested
right now. It tightens up auxbus timing.

This message may also occur if you are running a KPA100 at 11 watts output
or more, and transmit into a high SWR. It is most likely to occur in SSB
mode. This parfticular problem has been fixed and verified with the new
firmware.

When the new firmware is ready, Elecraft will announce a means by which you
can get your KDSP2 MCU re-programmed.

CRACKLING SOUND

I will post a short report on this in the KDSP2 area in the near future.

The short version is that a small number of DSPx modules appear to have been
shipped that may have a voltage regulator which can oscillate under certain
conditions. A fix has been tried in the field that seems to work, and a
permanent solution to eliminate the tendency completely is in the works. It
only affects a small number of units.
