[Elecraft] Elecraft award rules relaxed a bit

Reflector readers,
Perhaps some of you k1/k2 ops did not know that Elecraft sponsors
two operating awards; the Worked All States and the Century Club,
both described on on the Elecraft web site. To date, 28 WAS and
12 CC certificates have been awarded.
The question has come up recently about the Elecraft awards and
claiming credit for contacts made in contests (where the other
station's rig information is typically not provided).
YES, you can claim these contest contacts for Elecraft award credit.
I have mentioned it a few times on the Elecraft Reflector and will
repeat it here again.
For the WAS achievement award, I have relaxed the rule and
DO NOT require the other station's rig info.
On the other hand, for the Century Club award, you do need to
determine that the other station is using an Elecraft rig; K1 or K2.
While it would be nice to have the operator's name, I have relaxed
that requirement as well. Remember for the CC award, you are
trying to contact 100 DIFFERENT Elecraft rigs. It would not be proper
to count more than once, multiple contacts to the same rig (serial
number).
But if the other station had several different Elecraft rigs, you would
count one for each contact to a DIFFERENT rig (serial number). I have
10 contacts with W3RDF, each time he was using a different Elecraft rig
(serial number).
Sometimes through a little investigation and/or email exchanges,
you may learn after the contact that the other station was indeed
using an Elecraft rig. As an example, you may have seen posted
here on the reflector that XT2DX was using a K2/100 during the
CQWW-CW contest on 10 and 80 meters. A year or so ago the 6Y5
DXpediton was using several K2's in CQWW-CW contest.
Remember, these awards are awarded on the honor system;
no QSLs required, no minimum power required. I am not
likely to challenge your application submission unless I find
a gross error in my cross checking.
I hope that helps. I want to encourage each of you to strive for
these Elecraft Achievement awards. Information is posted on the
web site www.elecraft.com, See the menu on the home page.
Let me put in my little brag, here.... I have worked 98 K1's and 227 K2's
(just a personal goal to work 100 of each - I found I couldn't stop at
just 100 K2's !). K1's are harder to find!
