[Elecraft] Design reasons for X7-X11 case soldering

I soldered the ground wires to the sides of the crystal cases before I
installed the crystals. Had a small fixture set up in a small clamp. It made
inserting the crystals easy. Also, when I installed the KSB2, the manual
said to remove the ground wires from the left side of the crystals. I didn't
do that, as there was plenty of clearance.

Subject: [Elecraft] Design reasons for X7-X11 case soldering

Hi guys,

Just got done grounding X7-X11 on the RF board. That was fun (trying to
solder the side close to the resistor packs.) Looks like I could have
gone a little higher on the cans. I did about 1/8" instead of the
1/4"... oh well....

Anyways... was wondering why you have to solder both sides of the cans
instead of just one? I would be interested in knowing the reason.
Mechanical stability of the crystals?

Thanks es 73
