[Elecraft] Signal generator for K2 alignment & test?

Tom,
Your antenna analyzer should work fine as a signal source. You should be
able to get enough signal by just holding it close to the K2 antenna input.
Use some wire on the RF connectors as an antenna for the analyzer and for
the K2 for some additional signal. I would not connect it up directly to
the K2. If you do not hear a signal, time for some signal tracing.
I had the same problem of not hearing a good signal at this point, and it
turned out I had placed the incorrect value capacitor in the VCO circuit and
it was not locking. It took me a while of double-checking my work to find
that one! Don't get discouraged, though. Ask on the reflector if you need
more help.

Subject: [Elecraft] Signal generator for K2 alignment & test?
I've gotten to Alignment and Test Part II at the end, but I cannot find a
signal off a long wire antenna. Also, I get such a weak signal at 7000 kc
that it's not much use. I suspect I need a signal generator to go signal
tracing, but have no idea where to look for such a machine. Can I use an
antenna analyzer like the MFJ 259 as an rf source or do I need a different
piece of equipment? Any tips as to where to go shopping would be
appreciated.
