It's probably against FCC rules to manufacture or sell a kit for a
stand-alone unit that covers the HF bands and requires only a few watts of drive. The
KPA100 complies with FCC rules because it's NOT a standalone RF amp - it's a
component of the K2 system, and won't function otherwise.
These restrictions date back to 1978, and are the result of violations by
other radio services, not hams. But it's hams who bear the brunt of them.
