Reasonable or not, it's impossible because the KAT100 depends on 
communication with the K2's processor to function.

Wayne and Eric have mentioned the possibility of someday making a 
standalone unit in the future, but they haven't done it yet.

Judging by the size of the toroids and the voltage ratings of the 
capacitors, it can definitely handle more than 100w.
