[Elecraft] Birdies

Hi!
I need some help to track down the cause of some objectionable "birdies" in
my K2/100.
It seems that there are an excessive number of them. With the antenna
removed, I can detect about 15 across the 80M band, about 11 across the 40M
band and 7 on 30M. Most of them are weak enough that they would not be a
problem (at least to a casual operator like me) but there are several that
would cause interference to a S7 signal - that is objectionable! I haven't
addressed the higher bands yet - but I know there are also some objectional
ones in the bands above 30M.
The specific one that I am trying to analyze appears on 10.115 mHz. It has
the step tone characteristic with the tone increasing as the tuned freqency
increases. It is loud enough at that common operating frequency to cause
interference problems.
I cannot find any combination of circuit frequencies that would product that
particular spur. My thought is that if I can find the culprit at one
frequency, the solution may take care of some of the others.
The K2 is s/n 1760, and I added the KPA100 about a year ago. It has the NB,
the SSB option, and the AF filter. The system works great, other than this
problem. Any ideas will be welcome!
