[Elecraft] SSB/CW synchronous tuning

What are the operational advantages/disadvantages of what e.g. the
brochure for IC-7400 calls SSB/CW synchronous tuning:

"You no longer have to worry about losing a CW signal while tuning with
SSB mode. With the SSB/CW synchronous tuning, the frequency
automatically shifts when you change modes."

The K2 like many rigs I guess, places the CW transmit carrier at the
(suppressed) carrier position of the USB/LSB signal. If there had been
synchronous SSB/CW, I guess the carrier should have been shifted one
sidetone (600-800 Hz) up or down for SSB.

Any opinions on the pros and cons of synchronous SSB/CW?
