I can't vouch for the PC user, but it works quite nicely on my Mac. 
The Griffin software sets up the device so that it connects into 
keyboard shortcuts. I simply set mine up to emulate the freq up and 
down shortcuts. This is really easy to do in the Griffin control 
panel.

I would assume that something similar is done in the PC user 
interface. The big catch is the software needs to have the keyboard 
shortcuts to handle whatever it is you want to control.

By the way, there is more than just pot-style control on the device. 
Pushing down on the button also causes actions. There may be a few 
more, Sorry I can't remember at the moment...
