John - Feeding your end fed wire antenna at the top should work just
fine and will likely show an improvment over bottom feed. The end of an
antenna does not have any current and therefor does not radiate. If your
antenna is close to a quarter wave long or odd multiple, excluding the
counterpoise, than the current is greatest near the rig and being higher is
usually a good thing. The counterpoise is also part of the antenna and will
likely radiate better if it is kept higher. I like to use a 44 ft end fed
wire and a 22 ft counterpoise for multiband use since this gives a resonate
length for non WARC bands and tunes up nicely with my K1 tuner. Its really
an off-center fed dipole without any feedline. Works on 30M also, in most
locations. For convenience, I use a few feet of RG58 with banana jacks on
the end. Its almost end fed. 73 Rick K7MW
