You should also be aware that Radio Shack has some "non inductive" power
resistors that are non inductive at audio, but not so good at RF. You might
get away with them on 80 meters, but not on 12.
It's generally best to take a fistfull of carbon resistors and wire them in
parallel, at least for QRP. As you go to higher power, even that approach
isn't all that good because you end up with lead inductnace issues as the
leads get long to accomodate tons of resistors. High power dummy loads are
a little hard to come by cheap!
But for your K2, you can get away with a handfull of 2 watters, just make
sure they are carbon and not wirewound.
