This morning I had an idea on this -- maybe the relays are always 
operated in pairs, and the processor pulls down on one and up on the 
other, so that the coils operate in series?  It would make sense for 
the VCO/BPF/LPF relays which always need to be moved together, but I'm 
not so sure about K16 & K17, the attenuator and rf preamp relays...  It 
would make it possible to pull the relays in either direction, rather 
than having to toggle them (which is tough if you don't know their 
original state.)

Thanks for the suggestions to search the manual PDF.  Why didn't I 
think if that?
