I had WA5WGJ from 1968 to 1980.  That wasn't too good on
CW or phone.  I was happy to drop it for a systematically
issued 2x1 in 1980.  But since at that time one could
take the exam in my area only when the FCC came to
Tulsa twice a year, after which the next sequential
call sign would be issued, it was impossible to plan on
particular call letters.  I was pretty happy with what
I got, especially since I've always thought 2x1 calls
had an exotic appeal to them.  But all I really wanted
was a call that did not have an E, J, Q, or Y in it.
