Subject: [Elecraft] Question for K1 builders/owners
Hey guys!
Just started building my K1. I would like to get a consensus from those =
who have trodden down this path before me. When it came to deciding VFO =
frequency range did you opt for 80 Khz or 150 Khz? I'm leaning towards =
80 KHz myself as by the time you get up about 60 Khz or so from the =
bottom of any CW band; you usually start running into digital signals =
anyway.

Larry,
I went for 80khz, but since I'm newly licensed and only worked 40m so far I
guess I'm not the best one to give advice. Certainly the tuning rate
(khz/rev of tuning knob) is more than adequate for me.
Best of luck with the K1, mine went together like a dream but took me a
long time. I checked every component before inserting in the pcb and
checked every solder joint with a meter for continuity as I went along.
Whenever I make a kit, I always check, insert, check, solder , check and do
this for each component one at a time. Soldering multiple components is
quicker but it's easy to miss one.
You'll enjoy the K1, it's an amazing little box. I'm really enjoying making
contacts with it, can't beleive how easy it is with 5W.
