[Elecraft] B.I.T.E. suggestion

Another suggestion for something to be added to the next iteration of the
K2 RF board, or possibly the next Elecraft KILLER Transceiver...
The Frequency Counter probe is essential for several test measurements,
none the least of which is setting the BFO for the filters. Unfortunately,
we are instructed not to leave the probe connected when using the K2 for
fear of possibly introducing spurious signals into our transmitted signal.
Though I've never seen it mentioned, I'm assuming that the potential
problem with leaving the probe attached is NOT from leaving it attached to
the Control Board, BUT leaving the probe end connected to some
signal-generating section of the RF Board. As a result, I have always
unplugged the tip end of the FCTR probe from the RF board and then stuck it
into an unused (actually a half-filled) hole in one of the 2D connectors
which secures the back panel to the case. So far, friction has held the tip
end of the probe quite securely throughout a number of trips for the K2.
However, IF my assumption made above (not having the tip of the probe
plugged in) is correct, I'd like to see Elecraft add one item to the RF
board. This is a GROUNDED socket to accept the tip of the FCTR probe. This
having been added to the RF board, one could easily 'store' the FCTR probe
in this grounded socket and still be able retain the FCTR probe WITH the
K2, so it's available any time it's needed.

Wayne or Eric: Could one of you please comment upon the 'safety' of
continuing to leave the FCTR probe attached to the CTRL Board, but
grounding the tip end so it can't pick up (or emit) any spurs? If my
assumption is wrong, I want to set things straight.
