It should fully seat.

The gap mentioned in the manual is for the 3-pin and 5-pin connectors
between the KDSP2 PCB and the K2 Control Board.

The 12-pin and 20-pin connectors between the DSPx and the KDSP2 PCBs should
be fully seated.  In fact, if you have a K2/100, they *must* be fully seated
or there will be interference between the KPA100 heat sink and the DSPx near
the 20-pin connector.
