[Elecraft] battery care

Hi-

I made a post a few weeks ago documenting my experiences with the PS 2.9 SLA
gel cell battery, the content of which can be accessed by searching the
archives.  To reiterate here briefly, I used it to fuel my K2 *exclusively*
for over two years of daily use, albeit primarily of an rx nature. My K2 is
on abt 8-10 hours per day.

I was always careful to keep the battery properly charged, enlisting a smart
charger for this task every evening as I went to bed, leaving it on "float"
whenever the K2 was not in use. The battery only deep cycled a few times,
primarily when the charger would be unknowingly dislodged from its customary
wall socket, thus not affecting a charge. The next day, unknown to me, I
would be starting with an improperly charged battery.

Seeing as how I received over two years of solid use before seeing the need
to replace the battery due to an increasingly lessened capacity, I was
pleased with its performance enough to buy another.
