The only real "no-no" in Elecraft kits that I've seen has to do with the relay pins. Apparently, Wayne/Eric determined that clipping these leads - even AFTER soldering - could place some stresses on the relays that shorten the relay life. So they instruct us NOT to snip them. Ron AC7AC K2 # 1289
