After experiences this problem with the SSB module installed, as per advice
I pulled it out, jumped j9 & j10 and reinstalled c167. I tried transmitting
on cw and I got full power back.

Honestly I have little frame of reference for receive sensitivity. I did try
a ROUGH compare with my Omni-D and they were close to equal, although the K2
had superior quality of audio. Still, it seems I have to turn the audio gain
over half to hear well. Last night seemed pretty bad on the bands while I
ran my test.

I have gone over each and every component on the SSB board for values,
orientation and soldering. Everything looks good.

Question 1: I know I am gone to need to go over all voltages on the SSB
board, but before I return it to the K2, I'd like to know where I might
check on the RF board that could cause my problems when the SSB is
installed.

Question 2: I installed a Kenwood MC-60 mike, ie. I jumped the first four
pins, jumped from 5v to pin5, and the last two jumpered. This mike has a mic
amp switch on the bottom, but do I really need to jumper 5v to pin 5 if I
don't care about using the mic amp?
