[Elecraft] Want details of K2 lockups on field day

The lockup was in my radio and I'm not sure if there was any other lockups
like mine. I have had the problem only a few times (<5 over 7mo), one of
which was during FD 2003. The problem seems to be fixed now that I updated
the Firmware version of the KDSP2 to the current v3.0. I think the problem
had to do with the Aux Bus timing in my K2. Furthermore, my radio is
configured a little differently compared to the standard K2/100. The K2
stands alone as a QRP K2 and the 100W PA section / tuner live in a separate
EC2 enclosure. They talk to each other via a RS232 line and perhaps that
contributed to the problem. Also the lock up occurred after 19hr of
intense, high duty cycle use (call CQ wait TWO secs and call again
CONTINUOUSLY for 19hr). Try as I might, CAN'T reproduce the problem again
since the change in MCU version.

As far as the SGC, I also have one of these radios. It is a good radio, but
the receiver is NOWHERE near the K2. Also to access functions you need to
hit a combination of buttons which is quite ackward. The new DSP in the SGC
is very good and the radio is tough, but, please note that there has also
been mention of the SGC "Going out of Alignment" with rough handling (noted
on the SGC mailing list). I bought the SGC to use mainly on my bike (yes
bicycle mobile!) but otherwise the 2020 is not used very much. I much prefer
the K2 over the 2020, just my opinion and your mileage may vary.

Hope this helps and feel free to contact me off list is there are further
questions.
