Clipperton Is. is close to the NA mainland.  However, France will not 
allow dxpeditions to start from there.  Supposedly for fear of a 
counter-claim like happened with the Fauklands Is.  All Clipperton 
dxpeditions have to start from Tahiti.  And that severely increases 
that cost.
