[Elecraft] Optical Encoder Problem Solved!

Thanks to the responses to the problem I had with the tuning of the Elecraft
K2. This one took a little bit of time to solve, but I think it's done.  I
removed the front panel and control panel and inspected all the solder
joints. Next, I verified that there was some life in the optical encoder.
So, I put it together and it seemed to work. But .... then it started acting
up after I had screwed in the control board. So, at this point I removed the
front panel again. Desoldered the four wires to the optical encoder and
resoldered the connections. This seemed to work and so far no problems. I'm
not sure what happened but I had wondered if the original connections to the
encoder might be shorting against the control board - just a thought.
Anyway, thanks for the ideas.
