If you don't mind spending $45.00 a good unit is the SignalLink SL-1.  It works well for all data modes, is very small and you don't needed to use a port hookup.  Only one minor disadvantage is having to unplug the rig's mic plug and put the SL1's mic plug  in its place when you want to go  digital.

It worked fine on my IC PRO (which I have sold so that I could get the K2/100) and I am planning to use on my unfinished K2 (#3443) and I do not expect any difficulty with it.
