[Elecraft] Question on Alignment

The "QRP" cover can have a small effect on CAL PLL due to the strong
magnetic field from the loudspeaker in close proximity to the PLL =
reference
oscillator toroid on the RF Board. The result is a very small error in =
the
accuracy of the frequency display. I don't recall whether anyone noted =
the
same effect from the speaker in the KPA100, even though it is even =
closer to
the PLL reference oscillator at the left front corner of the board. If
memory serves me right, I was able to notice a small change in the =
frequency
display when taking the "QRP" cover off. The "fix" was to drop the cover
back in place after attaching the frequency counter probe, then run CAL =
PLL.

I don't recall noticing this effect with the KPA100 amplifier.=20

As far as the alignment of the K2 is concerned, there is NO problem with
having the KPA100 installed when the counter probe connected to the BFO =
test
point (TP2). It IS recommended that the counter probe be removed after =
the
filters are set up because having it on TP2 can increase spurious =
emissions
slightly when transmitting.

-----Original Message-----
This is a basic question and I already think I know the answer, but I =
want=20
to make sure.

I am going to be putting quite a few mods in my K2\100 and I will need =
to=20
do a realignment. I thought I would go through the whole alignment=20
procedure and tweak everything...or at least check everything.

The question is this: Do I have to align the K2 with the QRP cover on =
and=20
not the KPA100 in place? This would include checking in the filters and =

setting them up again through spectrogram. If I remember right, the=20
counter probe cannot be in the system with the KPA100 installed and that =

gives me pause to think that alignment needs to be done with the QRP =
cover=20
installed..

Anyone want to confirm this?
