[Elecraft] K1 VS K2

I should preface my remarks by saying I have only a K2/100 and so I'm
sure I am biased. But I went the K2/100 route for several reasons. It
has full band coverage. It offers an outstanding receiver - - and - -
has the flexibility of operating QRP all the way up to 1.5KW in the home
shack with an outboard flame thrower. Yes, it is larger than the K1 but
it's not so large as to not be portable, even in the K2/100
configuration. And so, I wanted the K2 for maximum flexibility. Now if
I were pining over something more to build or I really became convinced
that the weight/size savings was really necessary for portable
operations I might consider building a companion K1. I know that many
people feel that way and I would not dispute the concept. So much
depends upon personal preference I don't think there is any one right
answer for everyone. I would try using the K2/100 on portable
operations a few times if you haven't already done so and then decide.

Subject: [Elecraft] K1 VS K2

Ok guys, I just cleaned out the workshop and I can actually see the
workbench top! Must be time to build another radio--- which leads me to
my
question to the group. For the owners of both K1 and K2's which rig
gets
used more?

Given the K2 has phone capabilities and the K1 CW only, I'm just trying
to
get a feel for what seems to get used more by the list members. I'm
leaning
toward building a K1, but I don't want it to be another "neat" rig which
isn't used all that often, sure I can use it for travel, but that really
isn't going to be my main purpose. So what do you guys think? Please no
flames!
