The Elecraft Awards Program is alive and well.... but you guys-n-gals
have gone to sleep!!!
The last application came to me in APRIL. If you were not aware of the
awards program, take a look on the Elecraft home page, left margin menu
and poke on the link. Hey... these certificates are reasonably nice
looking, but they are not a 'gimme'.... i.e. you have to work at it. I
know, I know... Sun Spots and all that rot... well, I agree, that makes
it somewhat more challenging. One of the easier ways to find these
contacts is to drop in on QRP QSO events (like the MI QRP Sprint 4 July
at 2300z for 4 hours -or- the ARS Spartan Sprint Monday evening 6 July).
I'm sure many of you had your Elecraft rigs on for Field Day, too.
I know a number of you are working on these two awards, but perhaps you
have just not sent in the application. Well, let me encourage you to get
on with the program (before the ink in my printer drys up!). Some of the
reporting rules have been relaxed a bit... I don't require the Operator's
Name nor (for the WAS) the Rig Type. No power limits are imposed... just
make the contact using your Elecraft rig.
On a personal BRAG, I have accomplished both awards and I am still
logging new K1 & K2 serial numbers as I work them... Have 104 K1's and
230 K2's, so far. So they are out there and on the air... watch the usual
QRP frequencies (14060, 7040, etc...), jump into The Elecraft CW and SSB
nets (see postings here on the Reflector).
OK, now.... let's hear from you guys-n-gals.
