Juilan,

The BARTG (British Amateur Teledata Group has sold for many years two types
of  fixed frequency MultiTerm TX/RX units (I have a 2 pairs).  It looks like
they still have some for sale at a knockdown price of GBP 15. I suspect they
won't be making any more after they've sold them off. Shame because they are
dammned handy. Although the ubiquitous sound card is handy in the shack, I
used to use my multiterm pair to contact my static caravan on 2m 20 miles
away to switch on the heating before I go visit. The kit at the caravan end
used a multiterm rx unit, a Basic Stamp to receive commands at 50baud, and a
VN66AF VMOFF FET to switch a 30amp mains relay to turn on the electric
heater.
