While not universally appreciated the standard practice in the DX SSB 
contests is to work Europe split.  You transmit in the phone portion of 
your band and announce where you are listening in the phone portion of the 
US band.  If you can suggest to Pat a window for the stateside stations to 
listen SSB he can put that in the rules, etc.
