Very many thanks for all those who took the trouble to reply to my
enquiry about using a Collins 30L-1 with the switching circuit in the
KPA100.
There is one major nag: the voltage on the Collins relay switching
circuit is NEGATIVE. The KPA100 will, of course, only accommodate
positive voltages.
I finally acquired the Collins today, and tried keying the amp with my
Drake TR7. The snag there (I suspect) is that because the Collins
keying circuit is in the bias circuit, the resultant voltage drop across
the keying line to/from the TR7 is changing the bias on the bottles.
One of the best solutions (suggested by a couple of you) is to use
something like the Soft Key marketed by Harbach Electronics - or roll
your own!
