After careful testing, my K2 transmits on the same frequency it
receives. I was mislead by harmonics in sidetone generators in both
rigs. Thank you Tom for kind suggestions!
I was able to compare K2 and TS-850 on CW and SSB. TS-850 has dual
crystal filters in both IF. In contests especially when calling CQ and
trying to hold to frequency, TS-850's steep skirts are an advantage.
Under nornal QRM on 40-160m, signals from K2 seem to be more readable.
This could be due to more linear AF path; in expanded QST tests, K2 had
very low RX IMD. Also in CW, one can narrow K2's filter to 100 Hz
without ringing while TS-850's 250 Hz/455 KHz filter rings badly. When
transmitting on SSB at identical peak power, TS-850 seems to have about
1-2S advanatge. If only K2 had a built-in RF speech processor...
