[Elecraft] Help: Problem with LCD Display on k2

I was working through part two of the adjustments for the Elecraft K2
when I noticed that the on the LCD the second row of horizontal dashes
are significantly dimmer than the rest of the board. Thinking it was
because the Rig was cold I blew on it and the dashes became brighter.
Then after a few minutes they became duller again. Any ideas?  I was
thinking about checking for continuity on the LCD. But, I wasn't sure
where to start.
