Pretty neat to hear the thoughts of somebody who's been doing cw as long as
Ron has! Ron's note reminded me of something I left out. I agree 150% that
an hour ragchew is a whole different ballgame than responding to a contest
call. My favorite activity on the radio is a cw ragchew. When I suggested a
QSO per nite - I think of a QSO as at least a 20 minute conversation. Most
of the people I meet on the air are very interesting people with lots of
stories and background. I like to throw out questions to them to encourage
them to talk about themselves....it's very neat when somebody comes back and
says something like: "Oh, I learned cw in the Navy and was on a destroyer in
WWII......"  Once you break the ice you've made a friend on the air!
