[Elecraft] Head-to-Head

My K2 (#524) has been the "main" rig in my station since 1999. I've
been very pleased with it, however, recently I've decided that I want
to modify my operation to include QRO. This from a guy who has never
owned an amp, and has no clue how to use one...

That has led me to the decision to buy a new, 100W rig.

Blessed with the knowledge that a fat tax refund is on the way, I've
let my imagination run wild and have been evaluating a few different
rigs. When I say "evaluate", I mean I have been torturing myself with
minute details from every published review I can get my hands on. All
that research has led me to conclude that my new transceiver will
either be the 756PRO2 or the K2/100.

For the most part, I only operate CW, so I have been focusing on gear
that caters to that interest and that has been more difficult to find
than I would have thought. The 756PRO2 and the K2/100 rise to the top
of the field for my own interests.

A local amateur has a 756PRO2 and has invited me over this evening to
give it a whirl and compare it to my K2. Hopefully, I will be able to
make a final decision and get on with ordering a new rig.

Since my K2 is an early one, I don't know how much receiver
improvement the newer K2s have over mine. Can anyone chime in with any
comparisons that you have been able to do between a SN3000+ unit and
an older SN# K2?

I have read about the improvements on the Elecraft Web page, but if
there has been any comparative conversation between older model users
who have tried the "new" K2 I have missed it.

Thanks!
