[Elecraft] This mixer may interest some

That is the reason for using a mixer and not a switch. But, I can silence
the audio from all but one audio source (radio, for example) and hear only
that radio. This is done by just turning down the level controls on the
other sources to zero.
I can hear the output of four different radios plus the computer soundcard
plus two microphones plus the output of some audio rack processing gear all
at once in a single speaker system with individual EQ controls on the radio,
rack and mic channels. The volume of each source of sound can be
individually set.
Of course, one would never use such a setup like that but it is very
convenient to (a) monitor receiver A while working radio B; (b) copying
PSK31 on the computer screen from Radio C via the soundcard; and (c)
watching the audio from any or all of these sources on one trace of a
dual-trace scope. The other trace is used to monitor the r-f output
envelope.
Another advantage is being able to adjust the EQ for each channel. If an SSB
station of Radio B is too bassy and lacks highs, just turn down the bass on
the channel and turn up the high end until the signal sounds like you want
it to. This has no effect on any of the other signals, of course.
I have been hamming for nearly 58 years now and I have never before enjoyed
using a room full of equipment as much since getting a mixer to handle all
the audio interconnections, level setting, etc. I can't say enough good
things about this approach or about handling transmit audio input and
receive audio output from the rear panel connector of the radio rather than
using the conventional mic input and speaker output connectors.

I'd like some clarification. With the 802 mixer and ONE speaker can you,
theoretically, listen to the audio on 4 receivers simultaneously thru one
speaker or "flip a switch" and just hear one rig? This could be immensely
useful. 73/Tim
