[Elecraft] This mixer may interest some

Not familiar with that speaker, Tim, but if it is a powered speaker then,
yes, that and the 602A are all you need. If not, then an amp of some sort is
required to get from the line-level output of the mixer to the speaker with
adequate driving power.
If the operator is seeking a lot of bass response to listen to the hi-fi AM
and SSB stations, then it is desirable to use a fairly large speaker and an
amp that has adequate low-frequency power output for the room size, etc..
Small speakers, properly enclosed, etc. are good down to 90 or 100 Hz
perhaps but then the output starts falling fairly rapidly with frequency and
distortion rises if attempts are made to "equalize" the speaker by driving
it harder at the lower frequencies. Communications-quality audio requires
response only from about 300 to 3000 Hz so small speakers are adequate.

Hmmm -
A bit confusing George - the fellow who described this to me mentioned the
Soundsweet speaker and the 602 as if that was all he used. Had to have an
amp in there somewhere huh?
