Well, I sure do thank everyone who responded with lots of good
suggestions. I'm also glad to see that I haven't completely lost it - -
bail installation seems to be a pain for many. I agree with a couple of
comments about the thickness of the thing - - it seems more than
sufficient to support my FT 1000D, let alone the small (by comparison)
K2. I will persevere and maybe utter several mighty oaths in the
process. One way or another it's going in! Again, many thanks to all.

I had a problem with the bail as well. My solution involved the use of
a
very handy tool to have in the kit, a Quick-Grip mini bar clamp made
by
the folks who make/sell Vise Grip pliers. The rubber covered jaws on
the
clamp easily grab the legs on the bail and a few pulls on the Quik-Grip
clamp compress them enough to allow assembling the bail and feet to the
bottom panel. Upon release there is a slight bowing of the bottom panel
which goes away when it the panel is installed.
