John, there does appear to be a peak in L34 near the bottom of the can, but 
this is not the proper peak; it is one with higher noise to signal than the 
one near the top.  The one near the top often does not appear actually to 
peak if you are trying to do it by ear.  It is better to use an AC volt 
meter (analog preferably, and on its most sensitive scale) on the audio 
output, and tune L34 to peak the reading.  If you don't find a peak, then 
you can either try adding a bit to C182, or you can consider just tuning 
L34 to give as high output as possible; it's not likely you will be any 
noticable distance from the peak anyway since L34's setting is not terribly 
sensitive there anyway.

Yes, John, I too have found this to happen on occasion; not very often, 
however.  It has never been a worry or a bother.
