There has been a spate of requests for scope manuals lately on the list.
There are several sources for manuals if you search the web for them. I
recently bought a manual for my Tektronix 2235 scope on a CDROM for just ten
dollars via E-bay. The email address of the source is [email protected].
He has other scope manuals available on CDROM as well that are similarly
priced. Viewing schematics via CDROM is a little painful as the file is in
PDF format (read using Adobe Acrobat), but for the low price and its
anticipated infrequent use, the CDROM is a cost-effective solution.
By comparison, just prior to winning the bid on Ebay for the CDROM version
of the manual, I had a panic attack and bought a VERY nice rendition of the
Tek 2235 manual from "W7FG Vintage Manuals" (online at w7fg.com) for about
$66 shipped priority mail. The manual is bound and is an excellent copy of
the original. It is professional in every way including full-size fold-out
pages with no distortions. W7FG has manuals for many, many older electronic
items including amateur radio equipment.
Another popular Tektronix parts/manaula source is Deane Kidd (email:
[email protected]). Deane is an ex-Tektronix employee and has amassed a
large inventory of Tek parts and information. He has been very helpful to
me, personally.
Finding parts for older 'scopes is not too difficult if you use your
imagination. I have found success by chasing some of the sellers of the
'scopes on E-bay. Some have old, derelict 'scopes they can't sell and will
part them out for you.
