Keep in mind that the zero-beat indicator contains a square-wave oscillator.  I
used one for a while and had the board mounted near the counter connector on the
control board.  My frequency indications when trying to do CAL FIL were all over
the map and it was impossible to do it properly.  Everything cleaned up when I
finally removed it.  So check that your counter indications are stable!
