Max,
This has been a subject of great controversy on this reflector. Here's the 
bottom line.  The K2 sounds great with a decent set of stereo headphones.  
That's what I usually use for CW and SSB.  The K2 is a fantastic rig but one 
of its limitations is that it can't quite drive a speaker well.  Some 
speakers are better than others. The MFJ clear-tone speaker is not bad.  Many 
will tell you that Motorola Speakers are loud and the best alternative. I've 
found that the MFJ sounds better (yes I know that they have a quality control 
problem).
