[Elecraft] UK Elecraft reviews

This is my first post to the reflector - my K2 kit is on the way and I have
been lurking and building testing equipment in the meantime.

Paradoxically, I first heard of Elecraft in the RSGB Radcom. Richard
Newstead G3CWI, the Adventure Radio guy www.adventureradio.org wrote a very
complimentary review of the K1 in September 2001. His review gave a really
good feel for why guys still build kits, although his comments on the K1
mixer were possibly a bit unfair, given the attention to CW filtering,
weight and power consumption.

He also has a K2 and his description interested me.

After seeing the Elecraft website, I realised that it would be the K2
(recall that K2 was the "American Everest" when I climbed as a kid) for me.

Radcom has mentioned the K2 favourably since then, but generally in the
small print of the technical topics columns. PW finally ran a review last
December by Neill Taylor G4HLX.

It's all history now, but the news is spreading over here.
