[Elecraft] KAT2 Toroids Installation

Was wondering if I couldn't trim a bit off the top
of the stems of the rubber insulators to make
them easier to get under the soldered-in toroids.
(I seem to recall the manual directing me to do
something similar when installing an identical
insulator under, I think, L33 on the bottom of
the K2's RF board;)
I'm finding it a bit trick to get the toroids and
insulatiors combinations installed as you have to
solder from the toroid-component side of the
board, and one of the two windings can't be
pushed all the way through and then adjusted
(because the hole for that winding sits right
below a relay mounted on the opposite side of the
board.
Soldering from the top, and trying to leave
enough lead length to be able to slip the
insulatiors in, but not so much lead length that
the insulators then slide around instead of
fitting snuggly beneath the toroids, is very
tricky (for me).
I got L3 in OK, without trimming off the top of
the insulator stem, but jimmying the insulator in
caused me to worry that I might end up breaking
one or both of the toroid leads.
I looked at the pictures of an assembled KAT2 on
the Elecraft website, and it looks like all the
rubber insulators were installed without any
trimming.
Thanks,
