Chris,

the MP-1 looks like the one to use. Both are basically loaded whips. =
When attached to a symmetrical counterpoise the whip does all of the =
radiating. When attached to a single wire counterpoise or ground wire =
the wire will do most of the radiating. Another option is the MFJ travel =
antenna. This has a loading coil in a plastic box with a telescoping =
whip on top. Looks quite portable. If you want to roll your own the 12' =
MFJ telescoping whip is attractive. I have one and it is impressive. =
With a simple series coil and the tuner in the K2 (are you bring your =
K2?) it should be effective on 40-10 meters.
