Thin sheets of felt in various colors can usually be found in stores
catering to people who sew clothes.  For example, I found sheets of black
felt at a local "Hobby Lobby" store.  The same place had sheets of black,
thin, stiff cross-stitching cloth that were absolutely ideal for use as
speaker grill cloth (for anyone who acquired an Elecraft kit before they
started supplying grill cloth).
