John makes a good point. 

Some electric fence noise is caused by leakage across insulators - either
through plants or over dirty porcelain - that causes more of a "frying"
noise. The NB doesn't do a thing with that. 

But if you've got a fence that emits a series of loud "pops" due to the
spark gap flashing over when it charges, the NB will usually kill that
nicely.
